Look, we are not unspectacular things.
We’ve come this far, survived this much. What
would happen if we decided to survive more?
To love harder?
—Ada Limón, Dead Stars
We live in a time where the impact of collective, historic, and public events on lives marginalized by dominant cultures is often unrecognized. Individual suffering and losses are enveloped in, made invisible, and amplified by larger social and cultural traumas and systems of oppression regarding embodied experiences of race, class, genders, and sexualities.
Under such conditions, maintaining compassion, humor, flexibility, resilience, and a heartfelt connection to others and ourselves is an often-challenging daily practice. We need new ways of engaging the world, each other, and ourselves. My psychotherapy practice provides support to people who seek witnessing, sustenance, and dialogue.
